So you want to breed your wild-tails....

Even though Wild-Tails ARE mainly magical creatures you will still have the ability to breed them, this will be done through the Crystal Palace Forums, and limited spots will be open. Half of the breeding's will be specific choices from people for sires and dams, and the other half will be totally randomly generated.

This will be done by entering ALL the wild-tails who are interested in breeding numbering them all then using a random generator to pick the breeding pairs. Not only does this ensure that people are able to breed colour combinations that THEY particularly want, but also introduces a lovely wildcard element so that due to some *hidden* genes some really REALLY exotic wild-tails come up.

After breeding it takes about 3 weeks to a month for the off-spring to turn up, these appear as large painted eggs to begin with, often with colours and markings echoing their future developement and then due to the magic inerrant in the atmosphere mature into fully grown Wild-Tails and are then available for adoption.

Anyone can adopt the off-spring regardless of how they came about, and it will be very much first come first served so all is fair.

Genetics.....Oh Boy..

Yes I can hear you groaning from here, but don't worry these ARE going to be simple, because I am gonna be colouring the buggers and don't see why I should make my life more complex than it already is.

Colour wise I have adopted a paint pallet approach to genetics, I have tried to make the colour codes as simple as possible, and lower case are recessive and upper case are dominant. Black darkens everything, and White lightens everything very much like a paint box and palette.

Below is a chart to illustrate how I am going to work out the colour patterns, please take note these aren't the actual colours the spectrum as you will know is a lot larger than this...but it gives you an idea.

Colours

Patterns

Now as well as colours also pattern will play a part in deciding what new Wild-Tails will look like...

So as well as a colour string, each one will have a pattern string...unless it's a total solid., some patterns like Iridescent will be very VERY rare that its expressed. Obviously not all patterns are listed here but if gives you some idea, I will add more as I go along. Code is the letters in BOLD.

Just to give you some heads up I am experimenting at the moment with specific jungle patterns, like Zebra and Tiger stripes, and Leopard/Jaguar/Cheetah Spots :)

below is the markings that could be in your Wild-Tails genetic code as well...yes complex complex :)

The Really Fun And Weird Stuff

Right we all know by now that Wild-Tails are magical creatures yadda yadda and although the first batch WILL be predominantly equine, later there will be some exotic additions..

And before you go thinking "hey hey I can breed to get loads of exotic traits" stop right there, because only *I* will know what your Wild-Tail carries that will be expressed next generation. And whenever new breeding's start I will look at my records and plan the new additions accordingly. Mwahhhahhahhhahhah

In the event that 2 different types of the same mutation so to speak needs to be expressed I'll decide which with the roll of the dice :).

Unicorn
Bull
Ram
Stag
Demon
Fairy
Butterfly
Dragonfly
Angel
Bug
Dragon

Before you go....just to make it a little more complex....

I will be making concept driven batches of Wild-Tails from time to time, these are also fully breed able but will also contain certain concept traits.

For instance jewel encrusted bottoms, jeweled hooves and eyes with the jeweled series..

They WILL also have a chance of passing on in breeding's, fun eh!!! and will be determined by a random roll of the dice.

I have colour-coded the coding initials for ease of reading, and you will be aware of the codes in red, blue and green...pink codes only I will be aware of and will be hidden from general view...
